A multi track sliding door system goes beyond what a standard two-panel sliding door can achieve. By running three, four, or more panels on separate parallel stainless-steel rail tracks, a multi track sliding door allows every panel to slide and stack to one or both ends of the opening — creating a clear, unobstructed passage that can extend to 80–90% of the total door assembly width. The visual and spatial impact is profound: a multi track sliding door effectively erases the barrier between interior and exterior, turning a wall into an opening at the touch of a handle.
SKATE's multi track sliding door system is engineered to handle the weight, scale, and operational demands of large-format sliding panels in residential, hospitality, and commercial applications, using the same heavy-duty stainless-steel roller and track technology as our individual heavy sliding door products — but coordinated across multiple panels in a single system.
In a standard two-track sliding door, one panel is fixed and one slides, providing a maximum clear opening of approximately 50% of the total width. In a multi track sliding door:
- Three-track (e.g., OOX or XOO): Two sliding panels and one fixed panel, or two fixed and one sliding. Maximum clear opening increases to approximately 65–70% of total width. - Four-track (e.g., XOOX or OOXX): Three or four sliding panels that stack behind each other at one or both ends. Maximum clear opening approaches 75–85% of total width. - Five-track and beyond: Extremely wide openings for commercial-scale applications. Each additional track adds a sliding panel and proportionally increases the available clear opening.
As panels slide, they stack in sequence on their individual tracks behind one or both of the fixed end panels. When fully open, the stacked panels occupy a depth equivalent to the number of sliding panels multiplied by the panel frame depth — typically 300–600 mm of wall depth, concealed within a pocket wall or standing proud as a panel stack beside the opening.
Systems up to 10,000 mm wide with 6–8 panels are achievable with appropriate structural head track support. Very wide systems require structural engineering assessment for the head track span.
