A sliding lift door — also known as a lift-and-slide door — is the most technically advanced and highest-performing sliding door system available. It solves a fundamental engineering challenge that affects all conventional sliding doors: the conflict between weather-sealing compression and ease of sliding operation. In a standard sliding door, the panel slides on rollers while simultaneously maintaining contact with the weather seals — creating friction that makes very heavy or very large panels difficult to slide, and compromising the sealing force when lighter spring pressure is used to reduce friction. The sliding lift door eliminates this conflict entirely through a clever two-stage mechanical operation.
The sliding lift door uses a handle-activated cam mechanism that raises the door panel fractionally off the sill track — "lifting" it out of the compressed sealing position — before it begins to slide. When lifted, the panel travels on precision roller carriages with no seal contact friction, allowing even panels weighing 300–400 kg to glide effortlessly with a single hand. When the panel reaches its desired position and the handle is returned to the closed position, the cam lowers the panel back onto the compressed sill seal, simultaneously activating the peripheral locking points — creating the airtight, watertight, structurally secure closure that makes the sliding lift door the specification standard for premium facade projects worldwide.
The lift-and-slide mechanism compresses and releases the seals mechanically, producing significantly better air and water tightness and allowing heavier panels to operate with less effort. Standard sliding doors maintain constant seal contact during sliding, limiting panel weight and sealing performance.
